Title: 'Sea Vigil' water quality monitoring : the East coast 1992-1993
Author: National Rivers Authority Anglian Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The NRA has an obligation to monitor and safeguard the coastal waters of England and Wales out to a designated 3 nautical mile limit. To meet this obligation, Anglian Region uses a purpose-designed coastal survey vessel, Sea Vigil, purchased in 1991. Data from surveys carried out along the coast of East Anglia, from the edge of the Wash to the Thames, are reported here. Their purpose was to gain information on the nutrient levels along the coast of East Anglia. Some additional data from helicopter surveys is also included. This complements the two "Zone" reports already issued by the Eastern Area of NRA Anglian Region, which provide a broader picture of water quality, with emphasis on the estuaries.
