Abstract:
This is the factsheet number 9 of the Environment Agency educational series. This booklet contains sections on food chains, biological monitoring, freshwater habitats, human uses of rivers, the effect of farming, waste disposal and fisheries management. When a river is healthy with clean, unpolluted water, it will contain a wide variety of plants and animals. The different forms of life found in rivers and lakes depend upon each other.
