Title: Ribble action plan 2000-2005
Author: Environment Agency North West Region

Abstract:
The Local Environment Agency Plan for the Ribble is produced on a five year cycle. In year one (1999) a consultation report was produced. This outlined what we felt were the key environmental issues in the area. This was then widely distributed and people and organisations had the opportunity to comment on the plan. The EA received 161 written responses from 33 individuals or organisations. These informal comments have allowed to develop this Action Plan. Over the next three years the EA will publish Annual Reviews to demonstrate our progress in carrying out these actions. This Action Plan explains how the EA intends to help bring about a better environment in the Ribble area over the next five years.
The River Ribble is one of the longest rivers in North West England, draining a catchment of area of 2,128 square kilometres and covering a distance of 110 kilometres from source to mouth.
