Abstract:
This document sets out the Agency's approach to a Strategic Review of Development and Flood Risk in the Grimsby and Ancholme catchments. The purpose of this document is to set-out the principles, practice and technical reasoning which the Agency wish to see adopted in the Town and Country Planning process as a contribution to sustainable development. The document is aimed at: Local Authority planners and others concerned with understanding and implementing strategic and detailed planning issues; Providing developers and their advisors with information and guidance in preparing acceptable forms of development; Informing public to raise awareness of development and flood risk issues; and Providing guidance for Agency regulation officers in specifying requirements from developers. The principle focus of this document is the consideration of development and flood risk affecting towns and villages. The principles contained herein are likely to be applicable across other catchments in order to protect people and property better from existing or increased flooding.
