Abstract:
This report analyses the state of the environment of the South East of England in 2003. This report sets out information on the current state of the environment of the South East of England, and the issues affecting it, for which the Environment Agency has a key role and responsibility. We see this report as making an important contribution to the sustainable development agenda in the South East. This report contains sections on: introduction; environmental indicators; improving air quality; protecting and enhancing water quality; managing waste; managing water resources; managing flood risk; limiting and adapting to climate change; protecting and improving land quality; maintaining and enhancing biodiversity; additional quality of life measures; emerging issues, future priorities and opportunities.
