Title: What's happening in Southern region
Author: Environment Agency Southern Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
This Environment Agency leaflet describes the environment situation in the Southern Region. The Environment Agency's Southern Region is the UK's 'Gateway to Europe', which brings many economic advantages but also creates unique pressures. As a result there is increasing pressure on already limited water resources, living space and roads. However, almost a third of the region is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and 709 Sites of Special Scientific Interest cover almost six percent of the land.
