Abstract:
This report has been prepared by Environmental Resources Management (ERM) for the Environment Agency (the Agency) as the Final Report of the national R-and-D project on: Least Cost Planning (LCP) and Resource Demand Management (RDM) Techniques for Sustainable Development. The project's main aims are: to review existing Resource Demand Management (RDM) techniques, describing their main features and success in achieving environmental, social and economic objectives; to examine how RDM could contribute to the Agency's discharge of its responsibilities and support its contribution to sustainable development; and to assess the opportunities and barriers for the Agency in promoting RDM, including recommendations tor action.
