Abstract:
The overall project objective is to validate for the NRA the development and performance of the field test kit for microcystin-LR (MC-LR) developed by Biocode, and develop field procedures for its use by NRA staff. During the present reporting period, the specific objectives to be carried out were as follows: Continue optimisation of toluene-mediated cell lysis; Continue to investigate and develop alternative approaches and contingencies to toluene-cell lysis; Obtain and store natural blooms/water samples for future testing of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) or columns; and evaluate MAbs, validate preliminary column and assess MAb(s) for large scale
