Abstract:
This booklet has been published to provide Health and Safety information to all personnel handling and working with chemical substances. The majority of substances in use are not harmful when properly used for the purposes for which they are intended. Always follow the manufacturer's or supplier's directions for use printed on the container or supplied separately in leaflet form. The substances in use have been classified according to their main hazard with a capital letter. These classifications give general advice on handling the substance, simple first aid treatment and instructions for further medical attention where necessary. For most substances, small letters have been added tp the capital letters as suffices to draw attention to additional advice. The key to the meanings of the capital and small letter codes is given overleaf.
