Title: Rivers Par, Crinnis and St. Austell : catchment action plan
Author: National Rivers Authority South West Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
This plan includes the Par, Crinnis and St Austell rivers. For hundreds of years the quarrying of china clay, has significantly affected the water quality in the catchments. In recent years major improvements have been made by the china clay industry, but further work is necessary to comply with stricter environmental standards. The area is also visited by many tourists seeking holidays by the sea and the improvement of bathing waters is a major feature of the plan. The aims of the plan are to achieve water quality objectives and enforce pollution control legislation.
