Abstract:
The National Rivers Authority (NRA) is the competent authority, in England and Wales, for the implementation of the European Commission Directive Concerning the Quality of Bathing Water. In the South West there are 134 bathing waters identified under the Directive. 133 of these were sampled in 1991 in accordance with the requirements of the Directive. Porthleven (East) remains inaccessible until the steps to the beach (destroyed in 1989 by a landslide) are replaced. This report describes the 1991 survey of bathing water quality in the South West Region.
