Abstract:
Catchment management plans are a vehicle to achieve improvements in the water environment. By using public consultation they will allow input from others and provide commitment from all parties to achieving action in important issues. Key issues in this plan are considered to be: 1. Restoration of degraded river habitat; 2. Detailed consideration of the proposal to reduce the Offord Minimum Residual Flow; 3. Safeguarding the floodplain from further encroachment by development; 4. Blue green algae in Stewartby Lake and Grafham Water; 5. Review of Flood Defence Standards of service. The Bedford Ouse (Lower Reaches) Catchment, comprises that part of the River Great Ouse (together with its tributaries) between Kempston and Earith.
