Title: Colne barrier NRA 1994
Author: National Rivers Authority Anglian Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The Colne Barrier has been built to improve tidal defence of the riverside residential, commercial and industrial areas of Colchester and to provide a new defence for Wivenhoe and Rowhedge which used to be at risk from flooding by high tides. The barrier scheme has achieved these aims with minimum disturbance to the natural environment, while allowing commercial and recreational activities to continue on the river.
