Title: Feasibility and costing study for a constructed wetland treatment system
Author: National Rivers Authority Welsh Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The aim of the study is to assess the feasibility of constructing a wetland based coal mine effluent treatment system at sites in the Afon Pelenna catchment in West Glamorgan and in particular: to provide design, construction, commissioning and aftercare details for the wetland-based treatment system; to provide budget costs for each aspect of the construction of the treatment system; to provide a basis for a submission for joint European/UK funding to construct, commission and operate the system as a Demonstration Project under the LIFE programme; to disseminate useful information on this innovative treatment system to interested parties. The treatment system proposed will have a wide application in other coal mining areas of Europe.
