Author: National Rivers Authority Thames Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The catchment review study area covers the Pang catchment to the west of Reading, the Wye catchment north of Marlow and the section of the River Thames from Benson Lock to Hurley Lock, as illustrated in Figure 1. The study area covers approximately 800 km2 and is predominantly rural in character, with Reading, High Wycombe, Henley and Marlow being the main urban areas within the catchment. The study area has a total population of approximately 300,000. The following review will provide a summary of catchment statistics, issues and current and future proposed NRA activity, in order to achieve a broad awareness of potential opportunities and constraints. The document will also form the basis of the full Catchment Management Plan, which will provide the focus for those concerned with the future wellbeing of the water environment of the area.
