Title: Continuous water quality monitoring results for the Upper Tamar
Author: J. Brewer
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
During June 1992 growth of blue-green algae in the Upper Tamar Lakes caused concern over downstream water quality. SWW agreed to release a compensation flow from the bottom waters of the lakes to flush the algae from the system on 22 June 1992 to try to improve the water quality. A continuous water quality monitor was installed downstream of the Tamar Lake on 26 June 1992 to support visual and handheld monitoring in determining water quality. During the seven day monitoring period dissolved oxygen varied from 76 per cent saturation to 98 per cent saturation and therefore complied with quality standards appropriate to a NWC Class IB watercourse. The other measured parameters also complied with quality standards appropriate to a NWC Class IB watercourse.
