Abstract:
This document is intended to be used as a source of detailed technical information on the
major types of fish passes. The use, design and performance characteristics of the major types
of fish passes are reviewed. The review is based on an NRA survey and an extensive literature
review. In order to ensure the usefulness of the document from both a theoretical and practical
point of view the document is to be used by fisheries staff and engineers within the NRA for 6
to 7 months, after which a revised definitive document will be produced which will
incorporate appropriate amendments.
