Abstract:
The NRA has statutory duties under the Water Resources Act 1991 in relation to both conservation and recreation. In summary, they are to conserve and enhance wildlife, landscape and archaeological features associated with inland and coastal waters of England and Wales and to develop the amenity and recreational potential of inland and coastal waters and associated lands. These duties are outlined in detail in Appendix I. 1995 was the second year of operations to implement the National Conservation and Recreation Strategies published in 1993 which detail how the NRA aims to fulfill the duties outlined above. This annual report covers how the NRA has met objectives in relation to conservation and recreation in the past year.
