Title: Assessment of low flow conditions : phase 1 - proposed methodology. Final report
Author: National Rivers Authority
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
This report presents the results of phase I of a research contract carried out between August 1990 and March 1991 by Scott Wilson Kirkpatrick and Partners under NRA R and D Project Assessment of Low Flow Conditions. The overall project objective is to review low flows due to abstraction and to standardise
the assessment of the condition. Phase I is concerned with proposing a methodology for the assessment.
The standard assessment method proposed, addresses the conflict between the need for minimum input of staff resources by the NRA and the need to separate low flow impacts from water quality impacts on the ecology by means of a two stage procedure comprising Preliminary Screening and Full Assessment.
