Title: Review of Sea Trout Fecundity
Author: D.J. Solomon
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
With the development of the concept of potential egg deposition and spawning targets for the management of salmonid stocks, a need for a method of determining fecundity of individual fish and populations has become apparent. This must be non-destructive i.e. must be determined using characteristics such as size, age and stock origin. The overall aim of this note is therefore to review the results of fecundity studies on sea trout conducted to date, consider the extent and patterns of variation, consider the adequacy of the available information for fisheries management purposes, and recommend appropriate further investigation.
