Abstract:
This action plan is the second stage in the local Environment Agency Plan (LEAP) process for the Idle an Tome catchment, the plan sets out a programme of work to be undertaken by the Agency and other partner organisations over the next five years. It looks at education, planning policy, working partnerships and the role each plays within the area as a means of addressing wider, long-term issues. Progress against the plan will be monitored ind reported annually. The Idle an Torne LEAP area covers about 300 square kilometres, including part of the counties of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. Major settlements in the plan area include Sutton-in-Ashfield, Mansfield, Vorksop, East Retford, Crowle, Hatfield and parts of the suburbs of Doncaster and Rotherham. The Agency uses water catchment boundaries for LEAPs because they represent firm environmental boundaries. The Idle an Torne LEAP area covers around 1,300 square kilometres, including part of the counties of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. Major settlements in the plan area include Sutton-in-Ashfield, Mansfield, Worksop, East Retford, Crowle, Hatfield and parts of the suburbs of Doncaster and Rotherham. The population of the plan area is approximately 445,000 people.
