Title: Electron Microscope Image: Micrasterias hardyi
Description: Depiction: A single celled micro alga, Desmid. Size of Recorded Feature: Cell size up to 350 micrometres. The gap between the mico-spines is approximately 4 micrometres. General Habitat: Freshwater bogs and acidic pools. Trophic Status: Autotrophe. Context: Image shows typical form. Preparation: The cell was dried by controlled dehydration and sputter coated with gold for scanning electron microscopy. Source of subject matter: Cultured material.
