Combined Essex catchment

The Combined Essex Rivers catchment extends from Basildon and Southend in the south to Great Dunmow, Haverhill, Hadleigh and Harwich in the north. It includes the rivers and tributaries of the Roach, Crouch, Chelmer, Blackwater, Colne and Stour. Over 70% of land within the catchment is agricultural, with arable farming being most common. However, there are also significant urban centres throughout the catchment and a substantial industrial and manufacturing base. (EA)
