Priest Pot

Definition (http://www.f22.org.uk/lakes/Priest_Pot/index.htm)

Priest Pot is a small tarn a few hundred yards north of Esthwaite Water, near Hawkshead. It is thought that at one time it was part of the larger lake and became separated by silt becoming trapped in the reeds eventually becoming solid enough for other plants and trees to take root. It was once used as a fish pond for Hawkshead Hall and, earlier, the monks at Furness Abbey - hence the name. (f22)
