Abstract:
Nitrous oxide emissions (2 closed static chambers/plot) were monitored for about 12 months, following the spring application, by hand, of various nitrogen fertilisers (ammonium nitrate, urea, urea+urease inhibitor nBTPT [trade name Agrotain®], urea ammonium nitrate solution and urea ammonium nitrate solution+urease inhibitor nBTPT [trade name Agrotain®]) and from an untreated control. Three fertiliser applications were made in order to achieve the target, commercial rate of 220 kg N/ha. There were 3 replicate plots (3.5 x 24 m) of each treatment arranged in a randomised block design. The plots were established on a winter wheat crop sown the previous autumn, on a silty clay loam soil in East Anglia, UK. This dataset contains measurements of soil moisture as soil water-filled pore space (%) taken on the same days as nitrous oxide emissions measurements were made. NA = not applicable. nBTPT = N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide. The first measurement is a 'background' measurement i.e. before any treatments were applied. Water-filled pore space values are the mean of 3 blocks. If the data file is downloaded/opened in excel, dates may appear as dd-mm-yy instead of the standard yy-mm-dd.
