Abstract:
Cattle slurry was applied by trailing hose and surface broadcasting at five rates, viz: 20, 35, 50, 65 and 80 m3/ha (using a purpose built small-plot applicator) to cereal stubble (later sown with winter wheat), on a clay loam soil in autumn 2004. There were 3 replicate plots (5 x 12m) of each application treatment arranged in a randomised block design. This dataset contains topsoil mineral nitrogen values measured to a depth of 0-10 cm. Measurements were taken on selected days when nitrous oxide flux measurements were also made. Measurements were made from the 35 m3/ha slurry rate and control treatments only. Treatment values shown are the mean of three blocks.
