Local action plans (EA)

Definition (http://www.wildlifetrust.org.uk/urban/ecorecord/bap/html/framewk5.htm)

The Environment Agency produces Local Environment Agency Plans (LEAPs) for the whole of England and Wales. The plans are non-statutory action plans based on river catchments. LEAPs operate over a five year cycle and are reviewed annually. They cover important issues affecting river catchments. LEAPs state how these issues might be resolved through measures set out in action tables. Many typical LEAP issues have an effect on both species and habitats. Such issues include: local Biodiversity conservation, particularly in relation to watercourses and wetlands, recreation, protection of air and water quality, water resource management; fishery management, flood protection and treatment of contaminated land.
