Readily available-nitrogen

Definition

Readily available nitrogen (i.e. ammonium-N, nitrate-N and uric acid-N) is the nitrogen that is potentially available for rapid crop uptake. For example, livestock slurries and poultry manures are ‘high’ in readily available-N compared with farmyard manure which is ‘low’ in readily available-N. [Source = Anon. (2010).
