Title: Pilot environmental audit : NRA Leigh, Tonbridge, district office : southern region
Author: National Rivers Authority Anglian Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The aim of the pilot audit was to independently assess the environmental status and performance of the site and its related off-site operations, by examining in detail the activities of operational facilities (offices and storage areas) and a sample of its remote activities. The audit focused on the operational and environmental aspects of these activities, i.e. waste minimisation, buildings and their environs, transport, elimination of toxic substances, emissions and energy efficiency. Four overall objectives were identified that applied to the pilot audit: to evaluate the effectiveness of the draft auditing procedures; to develop NRA staff expertise in environmental auditing; to receive feed-back from auditors on the audit and draft procedures, and to produce an environmental audit report for the benefit of the auditees, that may serve as a guide to all other NRA locations, prior to the establishment of a full auditing programme.
